The Marketing department at ElderCounsel is looking for a Web Marketing Associate to join our growing team. The Marketing department plays a vital role by generating new leads, crafting messages to both members and prospects, creating in-person and virtual events for members, and delivering key creative assets to elevate and promote products and services.

About ElderCounsel

ElderCounsel is a national membership organization comprised of elder law, veteran's benefits and special needs planning attorneys. ElderCounsel provides a state-of-the-art document drafting system, ElderDocx, as well as education and support to its members. We strive to maintain the highest level of professionalism not only in the products and services we offer, but also with each member of our team.

We are a 10-year old company that promotes a cooperative team atmosphere, values teamwork and open communication between our corporate leadership and all our staff. We work in a virtual environment using technology to help us connect and learn from each other. Our employees are passionate, experienced, and dedicated to our members and our team works together to ensure our members experience the best service available.

What we're looking for:

Do you love WordPress? Can you explain the difference between post-types, categories, and taxonomies? Does the idea of de-bugging a complex multi-site network sound better than an all you can eat buffet at Pizza Hut? Is being part of a fun and dynamic team a top priority for you? If so you might be just what we're looking for (though we're flexible on the pizza thing)!

We are looking for a Web Marketing Associate to initially help us finalize development of our brand-new website, then after completion, help with its day-to-day running, and finally to assist with our rapidly expanding WordPress network. You'll obviously be extremely competent with WordPress, proficient in HTML, CSS, and at least not entirely terrified of PHP.

What you'll be doing:

Working closely with our (fabulous) Webmaster you will be responsible for a whole bunch of cool and exciting WordPress stuff and things like adding and updating content to the main site, troubleshooting membership issues, and ensuring the overall health and efficiency of our main website. Other cool stuff might include helping design and develop additional functionality, or help out with the design/construction of a brand-new member site.

On top of that you may even get the chance to assist the other (even more) fabulous members of the Marketing Department with some basic graphic design, adding new events to our extensive event calendar or generally helping out with stuff as needed.

What skills will you need?

First and foremost, you will need to have extensive experience with WordPress, understand how it works, and how it does what it does. This will include a decent understanding of template hierarchy, plugins, and data-organization. You'll also need to be pretty proficient with HTML and CSS. PHP skills are a definite bonus, along with JavaScript. Experience with WordPress Multisite networks is a huge bonus.

You'll be working from your home office so you'll need to be able to structure and prioritize your time effectively and demonstrate an ability to produce results without direct supervision. That said, you will be connected to the rest of the team via software so we're only a click away.

Core Skill Set:

  • WordPress (4+ years' experience)
  • HTML
  • CSS
  • Great Communication Skills

Additional desirable skills:

  • WordPress Multisite Experience
  • PHP and/or JavaScript
  • Good SEO/SEM Understanding
  • Adobe CC Suite Photoshop + Illustrator
  • HubSpot Experience
  • Salesforce Experience
  • WordPress Design & Development Experience a Big +
  • Experience with Membership sites also a bonus

Other info:

  • Ability to maintain a quiet and appropriate work environment, free of distractions during the workday
  • Must be able to work closely with the team in a virtual environment, utilizing technologies to communicate and make yourself accessible.
  • Be flexible to assist with other duties and tasks as needed.
  • Occasional travel required for company events.
