The Marketing department at ElderCounsel is looking for an Associate Webmaster to join our growing team. The Marketing department plays a vital role by generating new leads, crafting messages to both members and prospects, creating in-person and virtual events for members, and delivering key creative assets to elevate and promote products and services.

ElderCounsel is a national membership organization comprised of elder law, veteran's benefits and special needs planning attorneys. ElderCounsel provides a state-of-the-art document drafting system, ElderDocx, as well as education and support to its members. A day in the life as an Associate Webmaster

Your day will most likely consist of a variety of tasks that may span several projects, so organization skills are important. You could start by receiving an email from a colleague that reports a bug, which is where your problem-solving skills come in to play. Communication with the colleague that reported the bug, as well as the rest of the marketing department is key! We're looking for someone who understands the importance of communicating with team members with statuses and solutions.


Next, you might be pulled in to help build a WordPress site for a new customer. Here you'll take the wishes of the client and make them a reality! You'll also work closely with the Account Management team to make sure our clients are satisfied with their brand-new website.


After that, you might be pulled in to upload content to our Practice Development Center (PDC for short). Our members rely on new content being added to the PDC every week to stay relevant in their own marketing efforts.


Next, it's time for a department meeting. You'll meet with the entire marketing team to discuss upcoming projects, issues and solutions for current projects, and metrics. After lunch you could have a list of updates our clients would like done to their WordPress sites. Finally, you might end the day assisting the Webmaster with updates and internal web maintenance. Running into bugs and issues shouldn't be a fear of our new hire we're looking for someone who is solution oriented and comfortable trying to figure things out.


Work Schedule

This job will require you to work from your home office in Houston, Texas, weekdays from 8 am to 5 pm.


What qualifications are we looking for?

We're looking for someone who is an excellent communicator and isn't afraid to get their hands dirty.

Other skills necessary include:

  • WordPress experience is a must.
  • Sound working knowledge of HTML, CSS and PHP. JavaScript a bonus!
  • Experience with WordPress Multisite preferred.
  • Ability to decipher and understand a British accent.
  • Adobe Creative Suite experience required primarily Photoshop and Illustrator. Basic graphic design skills a bonus.
  • Good working knowledge of SEO and how it relates to web design/development.
  • Salesforce and HubSpot experience are preferred, but not required.
  • Must have the ability to conceptualize and develop webpages, landing pages, emails and related applications.
  • Knowledge of and experience Google Analytics are all required. Should demonstrate understanding of information architecture planning.
  • Ability to maintain a quiet and appropriate work environment, free of distractions during the workday
  • Must be able to work closely with the team in a virtual environment, utilizing technologies to communicate and make yourself accessible.
  • Be flexible to assist with other duties and tasks as needed.
  • Occasional travel required for company events.
