AWS Certified Solutions Architect Lead - Serverless

(Position employees to reside in Houston, Texas)

 

ElderCounsel is looking for an AWS Certified Solution Architect (CSA) to join our growing team. This contract-to-hire position reports to the CEO with potential career growth to Chief Enterprise Architect (CEA) or CTO role.  The successful CSA will be responsible for serverless architecture, development, implementation, and maintenance of ElderCounsel's elder law and special needs SaaS document assembly system, system-to-system integrations, related applications and will oversee the development team as well as vendors. Employee benefits include flexible hours, paid time off, annual performance bonuses, and 401k.  This is primarily a work-at-home position but could require regular attendance at on-site meetings.

What you'll be doing:

Essential duties and responsibilities for the CSA include the following. Other areas of responsibility may be assigned as needed.

  • Desires to understand and align new solutions with business strategy and can conceptualize both the problem and lateral solutions to identify the simplest option that maximizes the value of business outcomes
  • Manages activities that take place during solution ideation, solution design, solution governance, solution change management, solution implementation, solution deployment, and solution benefits realization.
  • Reviews business context for solutions to company challenges as well as defining the vision and requirements for the solution, recommending potential options, (which may include RFIs, RFPs or prototype development), evaluating ROI, selecting the most optimal option, and the development of a roadmap for the selected solution.
  • Champions a structured SDLC approach for delivery of business application solutions.
  • Responsible for contributing to the establishment of an enterprise performance management (EPM) and Enterprise Architecture (EA) practice, and the adoption of an architecture and standards methodology by Enterprise Solution Architects (ESA).
  • Communicates the architecture to the stakeholders and collaborates and coordinates with any domain or vendor architects in the formalization and adoption of EPM/EA/ESA standards and procedures.
  • Directly assists in the development of a solutions architecture program including organizational roadmaps and project portfolios for solution architecture.
  • Assures solutions not only are a fit for the specific purpose but also closely align with enterprise strategy in accordance with EA standards guidelines of technology solutions.
  • Recommends and influences changes to EA standards guidelines when necessary.
  • Lead, monitor, and verify work completed by onsite & remote internal teams, vendors, or offshore teams
  • Assists DevOps team on solutions management and timing of financial spend for application solutions.
  • Supports the architectural aspects of all application projects in the enterprise portfolio.
  • Directs the identification and recommendation of optimum solutions, upgrades, replacements, or decommissioning options incorporating business and technology productivity, usability, and total cost of ownership.  Evaluates non-functional tradeoffs for effective business outcomes with maximum ROI.
  • Develops and executes solutions which further reduce the percentage of time spent on reactive work.
  • Provides analysis of cyber-security and cyber-resiliency protection technologies, as necessary.
  • Analyzes current technologies used within the company and determine ways to improve
  • Document and monitor business drivers and requirements needed to improve the solution
  • Account for possible project challenges on constraints including, risks, time, resources, scope, and quality
  • Provides necessary conceptual and high-level specifications/blueprints for proposed solutions
  • Defines clear business outcomes for all aspects of a project and manages their proper execution
  • Validates business outcomes both at the beginning of the project and confirms realization after delivery
  • Identifies and pursues opportunities to remain current on AWS platform by attending relevant industry and technical conferences, maintaining current certifications, and pursuing new value-added certifications

Education, Experience & Certification Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Mathematics, Engineering, or equivalent education or work experience
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience related to information technology solutions architecture role
  • AWS Solution Architect Certification
  • Project Management Certification or equivalent education or work experience
  • Organizational Change Management (OCM) Certification or equivalent education or work experience

Essential Skills & Experience:

  • Certified AWS Solution Architect (Professional-Level & Security Specialty Preferred or Desire to Work Towards)
  • Excellent Communication Skills: verbal, non-verbal, & written (Visual Diagraming Skills Preferred)
  • At least 10 years of software development experience (Full-Stack Preferred)
  • At least 5 years of experience on AWS (Serverless Background Preferred)
  • Prior experience managing development team (Team Lead, CPM, PMP, or Scrum Master Preferred)
  • Prior experience building and maintaining SaaS cloud applications (Multi-Tenant Preferred)
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Engineering (Master's Degree Preferred)
  • Familiarity with Security (AWS IAM, Cognito, IdP, SSO, SAML, OIDC, OAUTH Preferred)
  • Familiarity with CI/CD AWS DevOps (Serverless or SAM Preferred)
  • Familiarity with Enterprise Architecture (EA) Frameworks
  • Familiarity with Enterprise Performance Management (EPM), Architecture Review Boards (ARB), etc.

  • Prior experience with AWS Serverless Services (Route 53, Amplify, S3, CloudFront, API Gateway, Lambda, DynamoDB, IAM, CloudWatch)
  • Familiarity with micro-services and API design using REST/JSON and SOAP/XML/WSDL
  • Advanced knowledge of NoSQL single table design in conjunction with micro-services design
